Back in Alberta & Contest Winners

March 29th, 2011
Arrived back home to my farm near Cochrane last evening and thought I should write a short blog on the success of the recent WorkingIn show.  These were very well attended and I heard from several 'real people' that the economy there is on the upswing at least for the moment.  Some very good skilled people are ready to immigrate, house is Sold, just waiting for the job offer before heading ov ...

Another bleep, bleep election!

March 25th, 2011
So I am only out of the country a short while and find the Bloc Quebecois and the NDP both supported the Liberal non-confidence motion and have joined forces to bring down a well functioning (albeit not perfect) Conservative government.  It annoys me that this is going to be our 4th election in 7 years!  What a cost to the taxpayers.

Frankly I see this as a greedy grab for power.  What am I ...

Return ticket costs less than a one way!

March 21st, 2011
Can't believe it!  Needed a ticket from London to Calgary recently and it was significantly cheaper to book a return ticket and throw the return segment away then it was to book a one way ticket!  In this case it was 892 GBP for the one way ticket but only 731.40 GBP for the return ticket.  Guess what I did?

Not only that but my good friend Paramjit (who travels a lot) told me a little known s ...

WorkingIn Canada - Manchester

March 20th, 2011
Shows in Manchester were surprisingly well attended.  The disappointing part was there were VERY few Canadian companies present.  Most of the booths were taken up by Australian and New Zealand companies recruiting Engineers and Health Care Professionals.  Come on Canada we are loosing good qualified candidates to Down Under.  Perhaps you can get on board for the JULY shows in Leeds and London ...
